ABOUT THE CUP

The HEROES CUP FINAL is the culmination and signature yearly event of the Maryland Heroes Hockey League. As all leagues, our playoffs eventually come down to two clubs. Breaking tradition, the game is played on a Friday evening, not during the day as the regular season is typically played. The game also benefits a different charity each season, typically a member of public safety who is battling a life threatening illness, or a major public safety charity. While the trophy recognizes the first 3 champions of the league, the 2020 Final was the first to be held at night, and with paid attendance. The first Heroes Cup Final event in 2020 sold out by game day and brought more than 300 fans into the Logsdon Arena, while the High School State Championship was being played at the same time in the building.

While it doesn't share the century long history of the Stanley Cup, the care that went into the Heroes Cup is not is clearly shown. The base, built by Captain Dallas Lister of the Annapolis Fire Department, stands at over 2 feet high, and the trophy itself only a few inches shorter than hockey's ultimate prize, the Stanley Cup.
Just like the Stanley Cup, the league's Heroes Cup allows for engraving of all players, coaches & staf from the winning club. It also allows for the agency's top chief officer to also be included. With it's current size, the trophy will recognize 36 years of Champions, with the final names going on the current trophy, hopefully continuing until 2053!
