The 2019-20 season was hands down the most competitive and ground breaking season in MHHL history. The league expanded to 7 teams with the Maryland State Police Honeybadgers joining, and the club saw instant success, jumping off to a 3-0 start. Eventually the club would finish with a 7-9 record, falling 1 win away from a .500 record in it's first season, a tremendous accomplishment. The season would also see 6 of the 7 teams all share first place at some point during the year.
In 2020, the DC Police again finished with the league's top record, going into the playoffs as the front runner. DC Police also lead the league's first ever charity initiative, taking the lead on a Toy's for Tot's Campaign during the 2019 Holiday Season.
Each team improved on their 2018-19 records, while majority of clubs all trading wins throughout the year.
In a hard fought playoff run by all the teams, the Howard Heat and DCFD would meet again in the Heroes Cup Final. A rematch of the previous season, when Howard won it's second consecutive Heroes Cup, winning 7-6. For the first time ever, the league's Championship game would be sold to the public, with a sell out crowd of over 300 in attendance at The Gardens Ice House. DCFD would come away with the victory after a long and hard fought 2-0 game. This playoffs would also mark the first time two goaltenders would post a shutout. The biggest accomplishment of all, is that over $2000 was raised for charity during the game.
2020 was expected to build off the accomplishments of the 2019-20 season. We hope that will still be the case.
